James is an award-winning producer, writer and director.
In the past year, he executive produced and co-directed One Night in 2012, a feature-length Imagine Special for BBC1 about Danny Boyle's Opening ceremony for the London Olympics. He produced The Confession, a cinema documentary about former Guantanamo detainee Moazzam Begg’s experiences living through the war on terror for BBC Storyville, BFI and Creative England. He was the Series Director of Her Story: The Female Revolution, a 4 part series for JWT and BBC World News that looked at the changing status of women in 21st Century through the prism of politics, the personal life, religion and the workplace, featuring contributors ranging from Hillary Clinton to Christine Lagarde. He executive produced Waiting for Invasion an observational documentary for Al Jazeera’s Witness strand and the Lithuanian Film Fund about young army conscripts in Lithuania training to defend their country from Russian aggression. He developed and executive produced The Craftsmen’s Dinner, a highly successful web series featuring Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux Jnr. travelling around the UK to find the best culinary craftspeople to create a unique craft-inspired dinner for The Balvenie whisky brand. Also for The Balvenie he is making a series of innovative shorts about the transmission of rare crafts to apprentices.
He is Executive Producing Gun Shop a fixed rig documentary for Channel 4’s Cutting Edge strand that captures daily life in a Michigan gun shop against a backdrop of increasing mass shootings and police killings across America. He is the Executive Producer on Refugee Diaries a series of shorts for BBC3 chronicling the experience of a Syrian refugee after he arrives in the UK. He is also Executive Producing Year Zero Thirty-Six a feature documentary about a Cambodian circus school who are staging an unusual theatre production to confront their country’s troubled history. He is currently directing a long-running documentary about the singer and activist Labi Siffre.
James’s previous work includes Monty Python: The Meaning of Live, Welcome to Mayfair, A Very British Airline (British Airways), A Season at the Balvenie, Life in the Freezer Cabinet – Inside Iceland Foods, The Trouble with Pirates and Amnesty! When They Are All Free.
He directed the acclaimed fiction short The Open Doors starring Michael Sheen and the low-budget thriller (fiction feature film) Dead Bolt Dead.
He established Rogan Productions in 2013 to make high quality films across a range of platforms, from cinema to online, from broadcast to brands. Since then the company has grown rapidly making dozens of films for broadcasters, agencies and brands.
He runs the company with his wife Soleta Rogan, the managing director.
Soleta began her career working for nearly 10 years in corporate retail, specialising in brand sales and marketing and has worked with many of the UKs major department stores. With a background focus in brand development and management, sales and operations, she set up Rogan Productions with her husband, award-winning Director/Writer/Producer James Rogan in 2013, with a vision of delivering high-end films for broadcast and not-for-broadcast.
In addition to her operational responsibilites, recent projects that Soleta has worked on include the online series.The Craftsmen’s Dinner, with Michel Roux. Jr for The Balvenie and The Confession: Living the War on Terror for BBC Storyville/BFI.
Vivienne has worked on a wide variety of programming from weekly live shows, outside broadcasts, fixed rig, drama and documentaries with extensive experience of international filming on all formats from 35mm to 4K. Vivienne has worked with all of the major UK broadcasters and worldwide broadcasters including WGBH, WNET, HBO, Discovery US, Discovery Canada, TLC, Smithsonian and National Geographic Channels.
Productions she has line produced include the Oscar-short listed theatrical documentary 'Sergio'; the award-winning feature documentary 'Kissinger'; the Emmy-winning series 'The Ascent of Money' and the RTS winner Panorama: Britain's Secret Terror Force.
Katie is an Assistant Producer at Rogan Productions, with a range of experiences in observational and commercial documentary. Katie is currently producing a series for BBC3 as well as working on developing Rogan Production's slate of films.
Recent credits include Rogan Productions' feature documentary The Confession, which premiered at Sheffield Documentary Festival; Waiting for Invasion, to be broadcast on Al Jazeera; and Young, Clever and Libyan screened around the globe on BBC World News.
Katie was a researcher on 'Welcome to Mayfair' broadcast on BBC2, and has worked extensively on Rogan Productions' commercial documentaries, building a strong relationship with the craftsmen and women at the Balvenie Distillery.
Prior to joining Rogan Productions Katie worked as a Volunteer Co-ordinator in Zanzibar, and holds a Master's degree in Conflict and International Development.
Before coming to Rogan Productions Andy had a varied career as an actor, comedian, personal secretary and picture-framer.
During his time at Rogan Productions he has been researcher for The Confession: Living The War on Terror, and worked on the development of One Night in 2012 for BBC1, Gun Shop for Channel 4 and Waiting For Invasion for Al Jazeera amongst many others. He also coordinated shoots in the Scottish highlands, Cambodian tropics, Lithuanian snowstorms and Shepherd’s Bush estate agents.
Angie has been in TV and Radio for all her working life, mainly with the BBC. More recently, she, with James Rogan, worked alongside distinguished documentary film-maker and guru, Roger Graef (Films of Record). She has produced and directed many Panoramas and also current affairs & arts documentaries. Angie joined the Rogan Productions team in November 2014.
Oliver is an award winning producer/director with a wide range of experience in both documentary and fiction.
Recently he has specialised in observational documentaries for the BBC and Channel 4, where credits include producer/director on the BBC3 & BBC1 hit observational documentary series: The Call Centre, and he is a director on BBC2's upcoming series on the South Yorkshire Police: Policing Under Pressure
He has extensive experience working in the Corporate and Branded Content sector, directing and producing high-end content for clients such as Shell, The Balvenie, IKEA, Ubisoft, Bertelsmann Arvato, DED Dubai, the City of Odense and UBS. He has also directed commercials for the publishing sector and Odeon Cinemas.
Oliver's fiction output includes a number of short films, including writing and directing the award-winning A HIGHER AGENCY, starring Jack Davenport and Antony Sher.
Maria is the latest addition to the Rogan Production team. Speaking five languages and having just graduated from her Masters in international journalism, she already produced two short documentaries, which both aired on national television in Belgium. Previously to working at Rogan Productions she did various internships at London-based documentary production companies as well as at the international news agency Reuters. Having obtained a wide range of practical skills during her Bachelor in applied communications, she will be working on expanding Rogan Production’s commercial portfolio.
